| The PC version of the Lucas Arts game Starwars Battlefront II has slowly decayed from being a top 10 rated game to a hellish nightmare for gamers. Serious bugs introduced in the first release caused the creation of a patch, which in turn created an even more serious bug which did not allow the game to run at all. After fixing those problems, the developers at Pandemic released the "mod tools" which was supposed to allow the normal user to not only create new characters for use with the game, new force powers for jedi's, and whole new worlds to play in. Now many people have become angry as the Xbox release is getting more and more things made for them to download over Xbox live while the PC users have to make it all themselves. Also if anyone has seen the interphase of these "Mod Tools" you can tell that they were not tested completely before being released as it has the habbit of crashing any NT based kernel (Windows XP/2000) though I don't know if anyone has had that issue under Windows 9x Kernels. Lesson to be learned here is, if a game gets too over hyped, don't buy it right away, wait a few months and watch the developer's web site/forums for player reactions, BFII had great reviews in the first 2 weeks of being released but it has gone down hill since then. This can save you the headaches of buying a game that you just can't play in the end, or have problems running. |

| Yes, unfortunate but true - the consumer is the new beta tester. |
